Hudson definitely did Holliday's version justice!
The one and only Jennifer Holiday! She sang the heck of this song on Broadway, and I had the pleasure to see her when I was pregnant in '83. Now 24 years later and three children later, my oldest daughter loves her version, and Jennifer Hudson as well! WOW! What a voice she had, but her career went nowhere unfortunately, even with his magnificient voice.
Beautiful in any version...and for those of you that have not copped JHudson's new album...YOU NEED TO..just one listen will have you hooked...Its not one of those thats got to grow on you it grabs you from the get GO! Stay strong J
Jennifer Holliday may be scary, couz the film quality is low so her skin looks unnatural...but oh my God how she acts out her grief! Is amazing! J. Hudson is also a great singer and actress, but I think Holliday is better in revealing her pain in this song.
Jennifer Hudson's version hands down! Jennifer Holiday over does hers and she scares me when she opens her mouth...you can see all her neck veins stretching out and the look on her face seriously scares me. Jennifer Hudson's version is more believable.
